Is your name Obama? Or perhaps you are a rap star with a lot of enemies? Then your BMW has arrived!
It's the armored X5 Security Plus.
It fulfills the requirements of resistance class six and can withstand an attack from an AK-47 automatic assault rifle.
The four-seat passenger cabin features sealed joints between panels and pillars to keep out bullets and fragments, plus a polycarbonate coating on the thick windows to resist shattering.
An intercom system allows for communication without having to lower the windows. Front and rear cameras keep an eye on what's happening around the vehicle.
Under the hood is a 355-horsepower V8 that is hooked up to BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, perfect for various road — and off-road — conditions. The brakes and suspension have been beefed up, in part to cope with the X5 Security Plus' additional weight but also for demanding security maneuvers.
The X5 Security Plus is built alongside regular X5s at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant in the United States. BMW also offers special security training for this special security vehicle.
