BMW's hot new 128i coupe is to start at $29,375 and the even hotter 135i at $35,675 when they go on sale in the United States in the spring of '08.
The announcement was made today at the Los Angeles auto show where the 1 coupe is making its North American debut. Prices include BMW's destination fee.
While the 135i is already fairly loaded, piling on the options — which include sport and premium packages, a navigation system with iDrive, and upgraded audio systems — can pump up the price to around $50,000.
The 128i is powered by a 230-horsepower inline-six while the 135i gets a brawny 300-horse twin-turbo inline-six.
Compared to the similarly equipped 3 Series coupes, the 128i is $3,800 cheaper than the 328i and the 135i is $5,900 cheaper than the 335i.
Also making their North American debuts in LA are the M3 coupe and sedan. The 1 Series convertible will make its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. Ultimate Driving Report will be there!
